About the Book

OUR FEARS AND SECRETS ARE THE DRAGONS WE EACH MUST FACE

 Now available on AMAZON
In need of his own redemption, Noah Carter finally confronts his childhood hero, the once-beloved uncle who betrayed him. Instead of vengeance, he offers forgiveness, also granting Uncle John a most curious request—for Noah to work on the ramshackle farm of Agnes Deveraux Keller, a French WWII survivor with dementia.

Despite all Agnes has lost, she still has much to teach Noah. But the pair’s unique friendship is threatened when Tayte, Agnes’s estranged granddaughter, arrives to claim a woman whose circumstances and abilities are far different from those of the grandmother she once knew.

Items hidden in Agnes’s attic raise painful questions about Tayte’s dead parents, steeling Tayte’s determination to save Agnes, even if it requires her to betray the very woman she came to save, and the secret her proud grandmother has guarded for seventy years.

The issue strains the fragile trust between Tayte and Noah, who now realizes Tayte is fighting her own secrets, her own dragons. Weighed down by past guilt and failures, he feels ill-equipped to help either woman, until he remembers Agnes’s lessons about courage and love. In order to save Agnes, the student must now become the teacher, helping Tayte heal—for Agnes’s sake, and for his.

About the Author

I've spent most of my life in rural Maryland where husband Tom and I raised our four children.

The Dragons of Alsace Farm is my eighth published novel, and was inspired by a loved one’s struggle with the dragon of dementia. My women’s fiction novels include Unspoken (2004) and Awakening Avery (2010), written as Laurie Lewis. Using the pen name L.C. Lewis, I wrote the five volumes of my award-winning FREE MEN and DREAMERS historical fiction series, set against the backdrop of the War of 1812.

Three new books are in progress. Please watch for my remake of Awakening Avery, a political suspense novel currently titled The Shell Game, both of which are slated for later in 2016; and a March 2017 novella I'm writing under the pen name of Addison Tayte. It's my contribution to the multi-author “Destination Billionaire Romance” series.

    1. I think we all do. "Dragons" explores the ones that keep people from moving forward. Books can be chathartic. So glad you're in a good place. Thanks for writing.

    1. Thanks for writing, Julie. The book explores situations when secrets prevent us from moving forward and finding peace. It's very redemptive, and I hope will reinforce the idea that we all are can make fesh starts. I'm glad you have your peace. Thanks for writing.

  4. My husband's Mother has Alzheimer's, and having a degree in Psychology helps me to understand some of the clinical part, but the more human aspect is really a struggle at times, for everyone. My heart goes out to you and I look forward to reading this touching story soon! Thank you!

    1. Oh, Christina, thank you for writing. I'll be thinking and praying for you. The hardest part was the letting go of who Mom was, and learning to appreciate who she still was. There was a definite bend in the journey, around which her fear decreased and acceptance and peace came in. That first part of the journey was tear-filled and painful. We are now in a place of peace, and we make momentary memories. I'm here if you ever need to chat.
