APRIL 2 thru APRIL 9
GETTING TO KNOW "The Carson Sisters--Gia and Emilia"
Anna Maria Island resident, Gabriel Carson is the island's most famous widower. This overprotective father of two has come to realize that over-indulgent parenting has resulted in two self-centered, twenty-something daughters--Gia and Emilia. Gia has walked away from her marriage and returned to Daddy's house. Emilia isn't interested in leaving home, or in marriage, at all. Gabriel knows if he wants to save his girls, he needs to leave them for a while.
Through a savvy real estate arrangement, a short-term house swap is arranged between Gabriel Carson, and Avery. and the two of them, and their families, are in for the summer of their lives as they step into one another’s messy, complicated worlds.
The house swap means change is also on the horizon for Gia and Emilia who now must find another place to live while Avery invades their house. The girls catch a break and have the opportunity to move into the home of an old family friend--a woman whose decor includes a very special heirloom--a pink flamingo rag rug made from her children's clothes.
News travels fast on the island, and soon everyone knows where the Carson sisters are moving. When Gia and Emilia try to modify the home's overly colorful decor, the pink flamingo rug suffers a tragedy, and the girls will do anything . . . anything to prevent news of the flamingo misfortune from leaking out. Interestingly, the only person who can help them is the last person Gia wants to see.
In honor of the pink flamingo rug debacle, this week's giveaway is also a pink flamingo item--a nightshirt. You can also opt for an autographed copy of "AWAKENING AVERY " instead. You must be a follower to enter. Then leave a comment describing your worst home decorating faux pas.

As much White american cheese as you want!
Optional Red Enchilada sauce to add spice.
Mix all but soft tortillas together and then spread on soft tortilla. Add red enchilada sauce if you want a spicier enchilada.

These are wonderful, ladies! I'm copying them down! Thanks for entering!
ReplyDeleteI would love to enter the drawing for Awakening Avery.
ReplyDeleteMy worst decorating faux pas is, well I guess I don't really have one since I don't really decorate, or is that a faux pas? I'll say it is the giant wreath I had in my living room, it was so big that was all you saw. But it did distract the eye from the permanent marker on the leather couches ;)
I think worst about home decorating for me is going over on putting things on the wall and sometimes they don't even match.
ReplyDeleteI think my worst home decorating faux pas would be when I allowed one of my sons to put glow in the dark stars on the ceiling of his bedroom. He moved out long ago, but the stars remain stubbornly glued to what is now my husband's office.
ReplyDeleteHard to TRULY decorate when you live in a rented dwelling. So I'd probably pinpoint my faux pas as not having matching picture frames and sort of having an overall mismatched look to the rooms (instead of that magazine look of perfectly planned out and all the elements going together!)
ReplyDeleteThe only decorating faux pas i can think of recently was i had decorated my apartment balcony which is on the 3rd floor with purple and orange halloween lights. i loved plugging them in every night but they were SUCH a hassle to untangle and put away so i never did. i decided to finally let my boyfriend (now husband) take them down when we started decorating for christmas! ;-)im sure i had alot of neighbors not liking me because of my lights! hehe.
ReplyDeletePS-i would LOVE an autographed copy of your new book awakening avery!! if i dont win, im going to send my friend to the dc bookstore this saturday to get a signed book for me since my baby shower is that day!
Rachel, that was about the sweetest post ever! If your friend does come by make sure I know the book is for you!

ReplyDeleteI don't know if I have any style of decorating, so that would be my faux pas. I have now lived in this rental house since January, and I can't stand to touch the walls, because they painted with flat paint. It is so dry and yucky to touch, I can't hang anything up, lol. the walls remain empty......and you have always been hero, since I was young. I want to be like you when I grow up!!!
I want to enter the contest! As for worst decorating experience . . . there have been so many. Maybe the time I tried to paint my basement bath a burnt orange color. It ended up looking more like, how did my husband put it? Oh yeah--calf diarrhea. The problem was that I ran out of steam and didn't get around to repaint it for over 2 years. Tan. That was the last time I experienced with bold color paint.
